The clarinet is a versatile instrument in the wind family. Much like the oboe or bassoon, it uses a reed to make its vibrations. It might not seem so, but it shares much in common with the saxophone. In fact any clarinet or saxophone player can pretty easily play the other. It has several versions and sizes, the bass clarinet being large enough that it needs a floor stand.
